Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions by our New Patients to Dr. Fridoun Pishdad before their Botox® Consultation:

Q. Do you have medical expertise in facial anatomy? For Instance, are you licensed and trained in a field of aesthetic medicine, such as dermatology, cosmetic surgery, or oculoplastic surgery, to name a few.

Dr. Pishdad: Yes, as dentists, we study head and neck anatomy more than physicians. Having in-depth knowledge of the face and the mouth is required in order to get our dental degrees. And additionally, I’m licensed with the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics.

Q. How many years of experience do you have injecting BOTOX ® Cosmetic?

Dr. Pishdad: We added Botox to our practice in 2010, so nearly 8 years.

Q. How often do you treat patients with BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Dr. Pishdad: Roughly 3 – 4 weekly.

Q. Do you schedule a follow-up visit after treatment?

Dr. Pishdad: Yes. For both Dermal Filler and Botox I’ll schedule your follow up one week later and that appointment is typically 10 – 15 minutes.

Q. What are the most common side effects you have seen in your clinical experience?

Dr. Pishdad: I’ve seen some bruising at the local injection site as well as hemorrhaging under the skin.

Q. What should I do if I experience any side effects?

Dr. Pishdad: Just use a cold compress right away for 2 hours. Avoid Aspirin and other blood thinners for 24 – 48 hours before your appointment. This helps reduce bruising.

Q. What do you need to know about my medical history? Should I be prepared to tell you about my medical conditions, including any prescription medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements that I’m currently taking?

Dr. Pishdad:Yes, my staff reviews your medical history thoroughly when you register. Be sure to bring a list of your medications and vitamin supplements.
